![]() ![]() ![]() I work long hours and the draw to modular was ‘being away from the screen’ and hands on, but now my goal is honestly just to be able to relax and chill on my sofa and actually enjoy making music instead of attempting to wield a monster system at a desk. FYI I have quite an old iMac so again have to sit at desk to use. There is no way I can do this and keep the modular, even if I attempted to save up - times are tighter than they used to be. My conundrum, is that I either sell it all, or almost all, which would ‘break the chain’ of the goal for my modular, to fund a new high spec MacBook Pro, upgrade to Ableton studio to get max for live, and budget a reasonable amount of money for some good / interesting plugins as I don’t own hardly any, and any I do are likely very outdated, and maybe (probably) a push 3. I have tried many times over to do what I want to in a smaller Eurorack system, but that definitely doesn’t work for me. I know there is nothing that can do that to the level I want apart from a laptop frankly (I have tried groove boxes etc). I just want to be able to sit on my sofa and make tracks comfortably, especially in the creative process. The main issues I’m having is that while the system is amazing and sonically immense, it’s incredibly cumbersome, I have to sit at my desk to use it, which means that I basically don’t want to use it as much, and patching it up the amount of cables is so insane, it’s just a huge complex mess frankly, and I’m just not very productive with it, even though it has the power to do what I want it to, in theory. This is a passion but only a hobby for me, but I do need to be productive to be satisfied. I like IDM, techno, house & garage and take influences from these genres. I have a 500hp system which is set up for full production with individual outs going into Ableton Live for mixing / mastering only. You can now warp audio events by adjusting the events themselves on the timeline. Live 8 introduces a new, more direct way of working with warping and some important Warp Mode enhancements. Live 8's new groove engine lets you apply groove patterns in real time, extract grooves from audio or MIDI sources, quantize audio and MIDI in real time.
